They are back – the original Good Luck Troll!!
Designed by artist Thomas Dam in the 1950’s they were originally hand carved in wood. Thomas Dam explained he wanted to create a figure that, although it was far from beautiful, had the ability to make people smile and feel good. The Troll was intended to embrace and hug the world, with its arms being stretched in the “Give me a hug position”.
After a trip to the States he got the idea to make them in rubber. Since then many editions of the Dam Troll were developed in rubber and dressed up in different clothes. Throughout the 60’s the Trolls continued to be highly popular and collectable.
After the family firm Dam Things lost the copyright they fought for many years to get it back and finally succeeded and the Good Luck Troll was ready to conquer the world again. In 2011 they announced a cooperation with Dreamworks Animation to produce a film about the life of the trolls. After the success of this film, Dreamworks have now completed a second film to be released in 2020.
In 2015 Dam Things (in cooperation with bySommer) began to turn the Trolls into a design icon. Troll fans are now able to have a fashionable memory of their childhood as a design object in their house.
They are now made with a new ceramic material and have authentic sheep skin hair that you can comb, wash and style as you like.
The classic design is available in a range of colours (even metallic and wood effect). There is also the ‘Our Heroes’ range that celebrates the people who make a huge effort in our daily lives – those people that we often take for granted and forget to say thank you for. They come in a variety of guises and are a great way to say ‘thank you’.
In this listing you will find the ‘Our Heroes’ range which are all approx. 9 cm tall (excluding hair). The Classic range are in a separate listing.
Supplied in a sturdy box to keep it safe.
PLEASE NOTE: As the sheep skin hair is a natural product, the hair colouration and style may vary slightly from as pictured.
